Rocawear was created in 1999 by Roca-A-Fella Records co-founders Jay-Z and Damon Dash. It is an American clothing manufacturer based in New York, its annual sale is $700 million. Rocawear expanded its brand through licensing pacts to create lines for juniors and children; sandals and socks; fur outerwear; belts; suede; sunglasses; leather; head wear; handbags; big and tall; lounge wear and jewelry; as well as co-branded with Team Roc, Pro-Keds, and State Property.

In March 2007, Iconix Group brought the rights to the Rocawear brand from Jay-Z for $204 million. Jay-Z still retains his stake in the company and will continue to oversee product development, licensing and marketing. Rocawear also launched its first social networking site, offering fashion, cultural connections, music, and style news.
Jay-Z confirmed via Twitter in August 2011 that Rocawear had partnered with Pharrell Williams clothing label, Billionaire Boys Club.
