Street dance is basically the same as hip-hop dance performed primarily to hip-hop music.
It includes a vast range of styles which include popping, breaking, and locking, which was created in the 1970s. Dance crews in the United States was the reason for its popularity.

showcased the hip-hop dance styles and crews, therefore allowing hip-hop to get mainstream exposure.
A commercial studio based version of hip-hop was created by the dance industry, at times called "new style." also created by the dance industry was a jazz dance called "jazz-funk" which showcased an hip-hop influenced style.

These studios styles were developed by classically trained dancers in order to create choreography based on the hip-hop dances that were performed on the street. Due to this development hip-hop dances are now practiced in both outdoor spaces and dance studios.
